VOLLEYBALL

Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. Play proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. The receiving team must not let the ball be grounded within their court. The team may touch the ball up to 3 times but individual players may not touch the ball twice consecutively. Typically, the first two touches are used to set up for an attack, an attempt to direct the ball back over the net in such a way that the serving team is unable to prevent it from being grounded in their court. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since 1964.

ವಾಲಿಬಾಲ್: ತಂಡವೊಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ಆರು ಆಟಗಾರರಂತೆ ಎರಡು ತಂಡಗಳಿಂದ ಆಡಲಾಗುವ ಕ್ರೀಡೆ ಇದಾಗಿದೆ. ಬ್ಯಾಡ್ಮಿಂಟನ್ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದರಲ್ಲೂ ಸಹ ಕ್ರೀಡಾ ಅಂಗಳದ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಟ್ ಹಾಯಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು ಒಂದು ಬದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ತಂಡವಿದ್ದರೆ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಬದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ತಂಡವಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಗದಿಅಪಡಿಸಲಾದ ನಿಯಮಗಳ ಚೌಕಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲೆ ಚೆಂಡನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಯ ಅಂಗಳದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೀಳುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುವುದರ ಮೂಲಕ ಅಂಕಗಳಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಆಟ ಹೀಗೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ: ಹಿಂದೆ ಹಾಕಲಾಗಿರುವ ಗುರುತಿನ ರೇಖೆಯ ಬಳಿ ನಿಂತು ತಂಡದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಆಟಗಾರ ರ್‍ಯಾಲಿ ಸರ್ವ್ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ. (ಮೊದಲು ಚೆಂಡನ್ನು ಕೈಗಳಿಂದ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಅದನ್ನು ಮುಷ್ಟಿ ಅಥವಾ ಕೈನಿಂದ ಪ್ರತಿಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಯ ಅಂಗಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವಂತೆ ಜೋರಾಗಿ ಹೊಡೆಯುವುದು). ಹೀಗೆ ಗಾಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜೋರಾಗಿ ಬಂದ ಚೆಂಡನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿ ತಂಡದ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ನೆಲ ಮುಟ್ಟದಂತೆ ಎಚ್ಚರವಹಿಸಬೇಕು. ತಂಡವು ಮೂರು ಬಾರಿ ಆ ಚೆಂಡನ್ನು ಸ್ಪರ್ಶಿಸಬಹುದು ಆದರೆ ವ್ಯಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಆಟಗಾರ ಕೇವಲ ಒಂದು ಬಾರಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಚೆಂಡನ್ನು ಸ್ಪರ್ಶಿಸಬೇಕು. ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಮೊದಲ ಎರಡು ಸ್ಪರ್ಶಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿ ತಂಡದಿಂದ ಆಕ್ರಮಣ ಮಾಡಲು ಸಜ್ಜಾಗುವಂತೆ ವೇದಿಕೆ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲು ಬಳಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ನಂತರ ನೆಟ್ ಬಳಿಯ ಬಳಿ ಬಂದು ಪ್ರತಿಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿ ತಂಡದಿಂದ ಆ ಚೆಂಡನ್ನು ಜೋರಾಗಿ ಮೊದಲು ಸರ್ವ್ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದ ತಂಡದ ಅಂಗಳದ ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೀಳುವಂತೆ ಹೊಡೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. 1964 ರಿಂದ ಬೇಸಿಗೆ ಒಲಿಂಪಿಕ್ಸ್ ಕ್ರೀಡೆಗಳ ಭಾಗವಾಗಿ ವಾಲಿಬಾಲ್ ಅನ್ನು ಆಡಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.
